Since 1976, the Community Religions Project (CRP) has conducted empirical research on religion and religions 'near at hand' in the cities of Leeds and Bradford and beyond. This website provides an archive of CRP materials as well as current research material. These will be invaluable to those interested in religion, locality and community both in West Yorkshire and beyond.

From 2014 the work of the CRP has focussed on learning and teaching. Our website showcases all that is best in supporting undergraduate students and others to research religion in their local community.

An account of the evolution of the CRP, and particularly how the study of religions has changed in relation to changing patterns of diversity in the UK, can be found in an article written by project director, Dr Mel Prideaux, with former project assistant Jo Merrygold. The article appears in Vol. 16 no. 3 of the journal Diskus, but is also available to download here.
